Sacred Journeys and Retreats
One of the great longings in all of us is to reconnect with the natural world and its inner equivalents, that joyful, expressive part of the child in us who was simply and organically connected to all things, including the magic and mystery of life and all its inhabitants.
Within this longing are echoes of our indigenous ancestors, whatever our cultural background, of spiritual life intimately bound to the earth, its creatures and its power to heal and transform.
These Sacred Journeys are an offering to this longing and Daniel's favourite form of work.
Wherever possible these journeys are done in conjunction with the traditional owners or with senior elders.

A spiritual journey with Daniel Sowelu, Lorraine Lee and Harry Watson of the Nyikina/Mangala people of the West Kimberley
A Spiritual Safari
14 - 24 June 2012
A spiritual journey with Daniel Sowelu, Lorraine Lee and Harry Watson of the Nyikina/Mangala people of the West Kimberley
A unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the magic, mystery and healing potency of the West Kimberley, led by traditional owner Harry Watson, members of his family and a team of experienced healers and teacher/therapists.
Opening ourselves to the healing power of nature and the purity and spiritual potency of The Kimberley wilderness has a profound impact on all involved, emotionally and spiritually. The facilitators have extensive professional experience in the healing and therapeutic journey and in journeying the Kimberley environment.
Harry Watson is a senior lawman of the Mangala/Nyikina people, a foundation member of the Kimberley Land Council, tracker, bushman, cameleer and a wonderful man dedicated to the resurgence of traditional culture. With his brother John he established the model community of Jarlmadanga in their traditional country and it is this country that the trek passes through.
This is a walking trek with the camels where we have the privilege of travelling through Harry’s traditional country, along the Fitzroy River and its catchment, Mt. Anderson, the Grant Ranges and the spinifex desert south of the Fitzroy.
There will also be many opportunities to enjoy ourselves, to allow the inner child out to play, to dream, fish, track, hunt, sing, dance and marvel at the beauty of such a glorious part of the world.
Harry, Lorraine and Daniel have working together on these treks yearly for the last decade.

"This year’s tour has a special significance as we will leave Broome in the energetic afterglow of a lunar eclipse on 4 June and the Transit of Venus on 6 June, culminating in the first exact square between Uranus and Pluto, the most powerful transit of 2012/2013, on the last day of the trek!" ~ Daniel
